About festival
Back in 1896, the Frenchwoman Alice Guy-Blaché directed one of the first narrative fiction films in history. In 1910 she founded the largest film studio in pre-Hollywood America. German film director Lotte Reiniger made the world's first animated films. Sofia Yablonska from Ukraine was a pioneer of documentary films.
Why do we so rarely hear the names of these women? To increase the visibility of women directors in the history of cinema, to support their achievements in the contemporary film industry, to promote the values of equality, mutual respect, inclusion and diversity, VOD-platform Takflix in collaboration with the London Short Film Festival launches an online film festival 7+7.
7+7 is a series of 14 free online screenings of short films by the most prominent directors of Ukraine and Great Britain during the seven weeks of autumn 2021. The program includes selected works of pioneers, avant-garde, classics, festival favorites and young directors that will determine cinema tomorrow. 7+7 also hosts 7 free online educational events about women in the film industry and on screen. The festival is supported by Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and British Council Ukraine.
